  2. The Radiant Peace Education Awards: Fall Contest

    Students in grades 1-8 are invited to submit individual art or essays about Radiant Peace, the peace that begins with each one of us. Outstanding entries receive cash awards and certificates.     My name is Ren Bettencourt, and I am the Project Coordinator at Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Programs, a Boston-based nonprofit that works to inspire the next generation of ocean caretakers through education and engagement with the arts, science, and advocacy.     Ocean Awareness Student Contest:
    Students are invited to submit visual art, poetry, prose, film, and music that explore this year’s theme, Presence of Future: Climate Change and the Ocean. Students are asked to create a piece about a coastal/marine species, place, or system that will be threatened, altered, or lost due to climate change.

    Contest Information:
    Students can earn scholarships of up to $1,500!
    Open to: students from around the world ages 11-18
    Students can work as individuals or a group
    Free to enter
    Deadline: June 17, 2019

    Marine Debris Creative Advocacy Competition:
    This international competition challenges middle and high school students to lead a creative campaign in their school or community that educates others and inspires action to reduce or prevent marine debris. Open to students worldwide from ages 11-18 with an adult sponsor. The Competition is free to enter, and students can win a scholarship of up to $5,000! The deadline is is June 17, 2019, but students are encouraged to register project ideas early.
