Time is Relative

My art piece represents how time can feel very controlling, instead of just a fact of life. It was drawn using red, black, and blue PaperMate pens, as well as a pencil smudging tool, on a 7.5 x 10.5 sheet of paper.

My artwork depicts a person wearing an inward-facing watch on their arm. I’ve shaded the arm and hand in harsh black lines, making the vibrant reds and blues of the watch stand out more. Red lines shooting out from the clock are meant to represent time’s hold on so many people, the way that so many people wonder, “What could I have done if I had only had time?”

Many people feel threatened by time, dictated by it, and I tried to show that through the red lines shooting out of the watch and capturing the subject’s fingers in an unrelenting grip.
